Evidence-based Falls prevention programs are specifically designed using STEADI (Stop Elderly Accidents, Deaths, and Injuries) Tool-kit to reduce to risk of falls in the elderly population (65 years or above) and a very effective in doing so.

fall preventionStandardized balance testing and questionnaire determines the basis for the program methods and goals. The program includes specific exercises, strength, flexibility and proper gait, to maintain balance and prevent falls.

Initially, these exercises are provided in a supervised manner and as the clients’ ability and confidence grows they are progressed to more challenging tasks.

What to Expect

We evaluate a person’s risk of falling by assessing balance, mobility, and strength. A personalized plan of care will be designed to meet individual needs.

Balance training and Coordination exercises will be used to help the body “practice” the balance righting series and allow reaction times to be more automatic, decreasing the risk of falls. Dynamic strengthening exercises will also prepare the body to respond and react to a loss of balance with less risk of falling.

Recommendations will be made to address factors in the home, work and community environments that may contribute to increased fall risk.
